The White House on Wednesday strongly condemned Egyptian military and police violence against protesters in Cairos Tahrir Square, calling on the Egyptian government to hold those accountable.White House spokesman Ben Rhodes told reporters that the Obama administration "wants to make sure there was accountability for the use of violence so that the Egyptian government needs to ensure that where theres excessive force not only does it stop, but theres a process of accountability so that the Egyptian people have some assurance that that type of activity wont take place again in the future".Rhodes added the U.S. wants to see a timely and clear path to a transition to a civilian government that includes elections, a movement towards a system that is responsive to the Egyptian people.
