White House summit against extremism starts Tuesday in Washington

A Summit on Countering Violent Extremism starts in Washington Tuesday to discuss international and US efforts to halt the success of terrorist organizations.
The three-day conference is meant to find a way to stop the recruitment of individuals and groups inside and outside the US to carry out terrorist acts.
Representatives of the civil society and world countries will first have roundtable talks on the spread of violent extremism.
US President Barack Obama will deliver a speech at the White House on Tuesday.
He will speak again on Wednesday at the US Department of State.
US Secretary of State John Kerry will address a meeting to be attended by a number of world ministers and senior UN officials, atop of whom UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
Representatives of international and regional organizations, as well as the private sector and civil society, will also be present with the aim to crystalyze a plan of action to fight violent extremism.
A meeting at the US Department of State will review progress achieved at the world level since Obama called for world action to face violent extremism during UN General Assembly meetings in New York in September.
The US Department of State will also host a ministerial meeting on Wednesday on the fringe of the White House summit.
The meeting will focus on ways to improve information exchange at the regional and international levels to face threats of foreign extremist elements.
Ministers will also probe a file on foreign extremist elements inside their countries, with focus on conflict zones in Iraq and Syria.
Countries and multilateral organizations will discuss efforts exerted to boost the exchange of information and border security.
They will also talk about current challenges and international assistance needed in the coming stage.
