
The Ministry of Awqaf announced on Tuesday the formation of the board of trustees of the world forum for tolerance and moderation under minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and membership of scholars from Arab, African and Muslim countries.
Ministry sources said the aim of the forum is to renew the religious discourse, disseminate values of tolerance and fight bigotry and terrorism.
The forum is due to hold its first session in the coming days upon the recommendations of conference of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs which was held days ago under the auspices of president Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, Al-Azhar undersecretary Dr. Abbas Shuman and Awqaf Minister Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa inaugurated the conference.
The two-day conference focused on the greatness of Islam and mistakes of some followers.
The conference sheds light on mistakes of groups that are falsely acting under the cover of Islam.
