World has no way but dealing with Iran respectfully

The era of threatening and pressure has ended and the US should deal with Iran respectfully, Iran’s press attaché to the United Nations Alireza Miryousefi underlined. In an article published in Christian Science Monitor on Monday, Miryousefi underscored that the repeated use of the threat of war in the official US vernacular can widen the chasm between rhetoric and reality, making it more likely that certain past mistakes will be repeated. He further added that such negative comments are bound to have certain short- and long-term side-effects, especially in light of Iran’s seriousness in resolving the unnecessary crisis over its peaceful nuclear program. The Iranian official stressed that the official verbal threats against Iran are in direct violation of the UN Charter, Article 2 (4), which expressly forbids member states from resorting to the threat of use of force against one another. Miryousefi highlighted that such threats undermine the rule of international law and are, conceptually speaking, conducive to global anarchy. In mid-January, former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw lashed out at certain western countries for their dual approaches towards Iran whose government and nation have always been resolved not to compromise their nuclear rights. Speaking upon his return from a three-day visit to Iran, Straw, who is currently a member of the UK Parliament, expressed optimism about Iran’s nuclear negotiations with the Group5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) and warned the West against pushing Iran “too far” in the course of the talks. He went on to say that the West’s negative stances can undermine President Hassan Rouhani’s efforts to establish proper relations with the world. The veteran British diplomat praised President Rouhani's commitment to creating change and noted, “It's really important that we build up better understanding of the position of Iran." Straw, heading a high-ranking parliamentary delegation, was in Tehran in mid-January and met with the senior Iranian officials on expansion of bilateral relations.
