A World War II artillery shell was discovered in the Fili park in western Moscow, police said on Sunday. The shell with the fuse was found on Saturday at the park’s pier. “At 2:25 p.m. [10:25 GMT], police received information from the park’s security service that a shell had been discovered at the park’s pier on the embankment of the Moskva River. The ordnance was identified as a heavily corroded World War II shell with the detonator,” police said. The place of the find was cordoned off until the arrival of sappers who took the shell away for disposal. In November 2012, divers found an unexploded 152mm World War II shell in the Moskva River, near the village of Metrostroi. Source: RIA Novosti
