Xi Jinping: Russia’s visit results beyond expectations

Chinese president Xi Jinping has said that his first visit to Russia after he took office as president already achieved the goals, and the results were far beyond the expectations.During his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev who congratulated Xi on the election to the top post, the Chinese leader said he believed the visit already achieved its goal, and the results were far beyond hisexpectations. He is very much pleased with the results of the visit to the country, he said in remarks relayed by Russian Itar-Tass news agency today.“I would like to sincerely congratulate You on the election to the post of Chinese president, wish You great successes in the responsible work and express the hope that Your first visit to the Russian Federation will proceed on the highest level and will be marked with very good achievements, which already happen,” Medvedev said.The fact that Russia is chosen for the first state visit of the Chinese leader is a very symbolic event, he noted.Russian-Chinese relations are developing on the way of strategic partnership and mutual cooperation. New seriousresults are achieved already.During the talks with President Vladimir Putin, more than 30 documents were signed, Medvedev said, adding “All this makes a considerable contribution to the development of our relations, and we are greatly pleased at this.”.Xi said that he was very glad to meet the Russian premier again.“We long ago became friends,” he said. Three years ago, when he visited Russia for the first time, he had ameeting with Medvedev in the same building. According to him, the image of dynamically developing modern Russiadeeply impressed him at the time.Xi Jinping noted that he noticed new positive changes. “We are glad at the successes and the progress in your country,” he added. Xi also noted that it was not accidental that he had chosen Russia for his first visit,but “to show the special importance of our relations.”Despite global changes in the world, Russian-Chinese relations are consolidating and developing, he noted. If tolook back at the way of their development, a conclusion can be drawn that the joint decisions were right and created afirm foundation for the further development of relations between the two states.On Friday, during the meeting with President Putin, they exchanged views in detail on bilateral cooperation andimportant international and regional issues of mutual interest, Xi said.
