
Yemeni coastguard boats on Friday seized a smuggling and human trafficking boat off the Yemeni territorial waters at Bab el Mandeb strait with 80 Somalis on board. Yemeni news agency (Saba) quoted a Yemeni coastguard security source as saying that the seized ship sailed from one of the ports of the Horn of Africa and was intending to offload the Somali illegal immigrants in a number of Yemeni sea in lets to enable them enter the country in a manner contravening the international law. The source pointed out that the Somalis were handed over to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ( UNHCR ), while the ship and its crew were taken to the port of Aden to investigate and find out the reasons and motives behind that act which contravenes laws of maritime navigation.
