
Defense Minister Mohammed Nasser Ahmed discussed here on Saturday with US deputy ambassador to Yemen Karen Hideko Sasahara several issues of common interest. Ahmed and Sasahara also discussed areas of cooperation between Yemen and the United States in order to enhance Yemen's efforts against terrorism. The Minister stressed that the recent visit of President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi to the USA was successful and contributed positively to enhance the level of cooperation and partnership between Yemen and the USA. He indicated to the importance of the support aid provided by the USA for the Yemeni army, including the logistical and technician assistances and the expertise and information exchange to encounter the terrorist challenges. The US deputy ambassador underlined the firm attitude supporting Yemen and its political leadership to fulfill the transitional stage's requirements and to maintain the security, stability and unity of Yemen. Sasahara stressed the need to support Yemen's efforts in the defense areas in general and in the counterterrorism area in particular in order to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Yemeni armed forces.
