
At least 28 Taliban militants were killed or injured during military operations by Afghan security forces across the country, interior ministry announced Sunday. According to a statement released by the interior ministry of Afghanistan, at least 21 Taliban militants were also arrested during the joint military operations. Interior ministry in its statement said, “In past 24 hours, Afghan National Police conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations with Afghan National Army and NDS to clean some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability of Afghanistan.” The statement further added, “The operations were conducted in Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Jowzjan, Ghazni, Khost and Helmand provinces, as a result 23 armed Taliban members were killed, five wounded and 21 others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces.” “Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition,” the statement added. During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused two different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Faryab province, interior ministry said in its statement. Meanwhile, at least five civilians were killed or injured following a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan on Sunday. The interior ministry (MOI) of Afghanistan following a statement condemned the incident that left at least four civilians dead and another one injured. MOI in its statement said, “An anti-vehicle mine which was placed by the Taliban hit a civilian vehicle in Mori region, Shigal District of eastern Kunar province today at 07:00 Am.” The statement further added , “As a result, four civilians were killed and one was wounded and the wounded person was taken to the hospital by Afghan National Police.”
