
Units of national police backed by the army have killed 26 Taliban fighters during series of operations across the conflict-ridden Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, said a statement of Ministry of Interior released here Monday.
During the operations which have been conducted in Nangarhar, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Kandahar, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Farah and Helmand provinces, 34 more militants were wounded and six others arrested, the statement said.
Units of police have also discovered a number of arms and ammunitions during the operations, the statement further said.
It didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.
Taliban have yet to make comment.
