Vitor Pereira: Villas-Boas needs time at Chelsea

The 34-year-old coach arrived at Chelsea in the summer after guiding Porto to an impressive treble of the Portuguese Liga, Portuguese Cup and Europa League in 2010-11. However, he has struggled with the Blues as they currently sit in fifth in the Premier League, despite having finished second last season. But Pereira argues that is merely a matter of time until Villas-Boas manages to replicate his success in his homeland for Chelsea. "Andre is a quality coach and will certainly, in time, prove his quality and competence," he told reporters. Reports continue to surround the club over the issue of Villas-Boas's relationship with some of the senior members of the squad, with many said to have lost faith in the young manager. Guus Hiddink has been rumoured with a return to the club that he took over as manager on an interim basis shortly after the sacking of Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari back in 2009.
