10 train wagons burned in recent violence in Egypt

Ten train wagons were burned in recent terrorist attacks in Egypt, the transport minister said on Tuesday.
Hani Dahi put losses due to the attacks at 215 million pounds.
The government can make a decision to stop train movement altogether due to the terrorist attacks, Dahi told a press conference, noting however that this will not happen because Egypt is keen on the welfare of citizens.
The decision to suspend a number of trains, however, was made after repeated terrorist attacks on certain railway lines, the minister explained.
It was an important decision that was meant to protect passengers in the first place, he noted.
A number of lines will not be operating from 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. until the end of January, Dahi said.
He also stressed the need to change the whole railway fleet.
Dahi also touched upon a high-speed train that should be implemented in three phases in western Egypt.
He made it clear that tickets of the high-speed train will not be subsidized.
