
Interior Ministry Public Security Sector led by Assistant Interior Minister Major General Kamal Eldaly carried out a large-scale security campaign to arrest outlaws and restore security on Egyptian street.
Security forces have seized 2,036 unlicensed weapons, including 604 firearms and 1,428 cold steels.
The campaigns, launched in a week upon directives of Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghafar, also resulted in arresting 17 criminal gangs and 140 fugitives.
About 81 stolen cars were confiscated in the crackdown.
Also seized were 111 kilograms of marijuana, 11,263 kilograms of hashish, 1,562 kilograms of heroin and 353 grams of opium as well as 119,584 sedative pills.
All legal measures have been taken regarding each incident and the prosecution concerned was notified to launch a probe.
