Security apparatuses in Qena launched Saturday a campaign resulting in arresting 16 extremists, seven of whom are Salafists.
Qena Security Chief Adel Abdel Azzim Ayoub said that the security bodies nabbed persons belonging to the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group and the Salafi current.
In Suez, 12 members of the MB were held for 15 days pending investigation. They included middle-ranking leaders.
They are accused of inciting violence, sabotaging and attacking security forces.
The National Security Apparatus forces in the governorate arrested the suspects before inciting violence on June 30 Revolution Day.
The perpetrators were at large and arrest warrants were issued against them, said a judicial source.
