
Shubra El Kheima prosecution decided on Monday to remand three defendants in custody for four days for opening fire at police forces during a checkpoint in the area.
The prosecution also issued an arrest warrant against another one who was also implicated in the shooting incident.
One policeman was wounded in the attack.
The defendants face charges of illegal possession of arms, resisting authorities and terrifying citizens.
The four were driving a tuk tuk when they tried to escape from a security checkpoint. They opened fire at policemen who fired back in return, leaving Captain Mahmoud Sabri with injuries in the chest and thigh.
A manhunt was launched and three of them were arrested.
