Security forces in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden, arrested three Qaeda leaders in the district of Tawahi, while a fourth militant fled.
One of the arrested members has been accused of killing an elderly woman in the district after the terror group accused her of witchcraft, Yemeni news website “Sada Aden” quoted security sources as saying.
The forces are chasing the fourth member, who opened fire on them during the arrest operation, injuring two of the Yemeni forces, the sources said.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the local authority in Aden Nezar Anwar said government troops have taken control over the security situation in the city.
The city’s higher security committee enforced a curfew Monday night starting from 8 p.m. and until 5 a.m. in a bid to restore law and order, the spokesman said.
More security measures will be taken in the coming days in Aden to help restore security and normal life in the city, he added.
