Some 3,777 candidates across the country have applied over the past three days to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the High Elections Commission (HEC) said Friday.
About 57 people filed applications on Friday, upping the total number of hopefuls to 3,777, including 156 women, HEC Spokesman Omar Marwan said.
The deadline for applications is September 12, he said.
Parliamentary elections were previously scheduled to take place in March before being suspended by the Supreme Constitutional Court due to the unconstitutionality of parliamentary laws.
Parliamentary elections will mark the third and final step of the road map, which was outlined on July 3, 2013, following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi.
