The Ministry of Public Sector Development on Saturday said 436 complaints were lodged against the quality of services offered by 42 government entities during the fourth quarter of 2014.
The overall number of complaints filed last year is 1,995, with the least number made during the last quarter.
In a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times, the ministry said the report has been referred to Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
Minister of Public Sector Development Khleef Al Khawaldeh said nearly 62 per cent of the complaints were against the level of services provided by eight organisations: the Greater Amman Municipality, the Municipal Affairs Ministry, the Water Authority of Jordan, the Social Security Corporation, the Jordan Institution for Standards and Metrology, the Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Health Ministry and the Education Ministry.
Khawaldeh added that the report aims to adress flaws affecting the quality of services, enhance accountability and evaluate the performance of public sector agencies.
The minister said 42 per cent of the complaints were made by Amman residents, followed by inhabitants of Irbid and Zarqa.
Most of the complaints in the October-December period were related to unpaved roads, garbage accumulation, the way public servants deal with people, water supply disruptions, damage to water networks, violations related to fuel gauges, quality of petrol at gas stations, and power cuts, according to Khawaldeh.
The public can call the specialised unit that receives feedback on 06/5008080 to lodge their complaints against government agencies, the statement said.
