
44 people have been pulled alive from the rubble after the collapse early today of three buildings in Bourgogne neighbourhood in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.
According to the commander of civil protection in Casablanca, Abdul Aali Ghadwal said in a statement to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), that these buildings include two four-storey buildings and a five-storey building, saying that rescuers were able after three hours to recovered 44 people, including six children. They sustained wounds of varying degrees of severity, he said.
He added that the elements of prevention in the city who rushed to the site of the accident, were continuing relief operations to recover persons who were likely to be still trapped under the rubble. Abdul Aali did not mention the reason for the collapse of the three buildings.
