Awqaf Minister and Head of the Egyptian Pilgrimage Mission Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said that the number of Egyptian pilgrims killed in Mina stampede accident rose from 37 to 55.
Gomaa underlined that 16 wounded pilgrims are still receiving treatment in hospitals after five Egyptians were discharged.
Nine pilgrims are being treated in hospitals but they were not injured in the stampede.
The minister's remarks came during a press conference attended by Egypt's consul-general in Jeddah Adel el Alfy and a number of Egyptian officials.
Gomaa further underscored that some 120 Egyptian pilgrims went missing and that some of them may have been among the stampede victims.
If they were not reached, the Saudi authorities will be notified, the minister noted.
The Head of the medical Mission Hisham Atta was assigned to count the Egyptian pilgrims who are being treated in the Saudi hospitals as well as the dead Egyptians both in the crane collapse and the stampede accidents.
