
Six gunmen were shot dead and dozens others injured in clashes between Houthi rebels and armed tribesmen in the southwestern Ibb Governorate area of Al-Radma on Tuesday.
The clashes erupted after the army had handed over locations that were under its control to the Houthis, according to witnesses.
The sources claimed that the son of one of the tribe's chiefs was killed by Houthi gunfire during the incident, adding that the Houthis used heavy to medium artillery.
A major road, linking the capital Sanaa in the north to major city Aden in the south, that runs through the area was blocked due to the violence, and a surge of displaced families have been witnessed leaving the area.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people in Sanaa took to the streets to demand that Houthi rebels abandon the capital city they have been controlling since late September.
They called on the rebels to abandon checkpoints they have established across the city, and to allow government security forces from carrying out their duties according to the constitution and rule of law.
