Six Lebanese soldiers were killed and two others injured Tuesday evening in an ambush set up by gunmen in Tallet Al-Hamra in the outskirts of Rass Baalbek near borders with Syria, National News Agency (NNA) said.
Clashes between the army and the gunmen erupted after the ambush, reported the agency.
Meanwhile, army intelligence arrested earlier today in Hilan in Zgharta the wife of Anas Sharkas, a senior leader in Nusra Front, and her brother.
Sharkas is reportedly connected to the military men hostages since the beginning of conflict last August. Negotiations between the Nusra and the Lebanese government are still underway.
