
The 7th coordination meeting of the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF), which began on Wednesday concluded here today.
29 countries in addition to a number of regional and international organizations such as the United Nations , the European Union and centers specializing in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism participated in the forum.
Qatar's delegation to the forum was led by HE Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Nasser Al Qahtani , Director of the Foreign Ministry's Department of International Organizations and Conferences who referred to the need for a united concept on terrorism and not linked to any religion, race or region.
He stressed the importance of unifying the concept of violent extremism by member states, calling on the international community to double efforts to address the root causes of terrorism.
Al Qahtani also affirmed Qatar's commitment to work with all relevant international institutions in combating terrorism.
The two- day meeting, which was co-chaired by the United States and the Republic of Turkey, discussed the latest developments of the sixth regional and thematic working groups and their future plans.
