Nine Takfiris were killed and three others injured during a wide-scale security campaign in North Sinai that targeted the cities of Al Arish, Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah.
Eight suspects were arrested and 11 militants' hideouts were destroyed during the campaign, security sources said.
Meanwhile, an explosive charge went off at a road frequented by army forces in Sheikh Zuweid. No casualties were reported as it exploded after the forces had passed it, sources said.
