90 more candidates enter the contest for UAE Council Elections

As many as 90 nominations, including 26 from women, were received by the National Election Committee yesterday on fifth and last day of candidate registration process for the Federal National Council Elections 2015.

The last day of registration saw 28 nominations in Abu Dhabi, 21 in Dubai, 14 in Sharjah, 10 in Ras al-Khaimah, 11 in Fujairah, 2 in Ajman and 4 in Umm al-Qaiwain According to the schedule for the Federal National Council Elections 2015, the National Election Committee will declare the preliminary list of candidates on August 23, and the final list on August 31. The candidates can request withdrawal of their nomination not later than September 14.

NEC has urged citizens to ensure that their names are in the Electoral College list by visiting the website of the Committee www.uaenec.ae or by contacting NEC call centre 600500005.
