Abbas rejects minister of finance's resignation

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has rejected the resignation of Minister of Finance Nabil Qassis. According to Palestinian news agency (Ma'an), Qassis had submitted his official resignation to PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad. The PA finance minister decided to leave office following a wave of criticism by trade unions after remarks calling for a reduction in public sector bonuses if the financial crisis continued, official sources said. Abbas has added that he will meet with Qassis on Sunday to discuss the matter further.
