
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, here yesterday received in his office at the Ministry, the US Congressional delegation, currently visiting the country.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed friendship ties between the U.A.E. and the US, and ways to strengthen them in the best interest of two countries, especially in the parliamentary, economic, investment and tourism sectors. They also explored promising opportunities, and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments of mutual concern.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of bilateral relations, and ways to enhance them in all fields, referring to the significance of such visits in exchanging expertise, and parliamentary experiences in both countries.
For its part, the congressional delegation praised the progress being experienced by the U.A.E. in all fields, citing the country's international image, thanks to wisdom of the U.A.E. leadership for highlighting the country's role at the international level. http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395268914915.html
US Congressional delegation visits Masdar City
The United States Congress delegation visited Masdar City on Sunday as part of a trip to the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) to participate in an educational and cultural exchange.
In addition to official government meetings, the delegation composed of 8 members, is led by U.S. Congresswoman and Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Marcia L. Fudge, met with senior executives and researchers at Masdar.
The delegates were briefed on Masdar's role in the development and deployment of renewable energy and clean technology in the U.A.E., locally and globally. The congressional representatives were also informed of social, environmental and economic value-driven developments within Masdar City and its role in pioneering a "greenprint" for how cities can accommodate rapid urbanisation and dramatically reduce energy, water and waste.
While visiting Masdar City, the delegation was guided on a tour of the research laboratories within Masdar Institute of Science and Technology - the academic research arm of Masdar. The tour concluded with an overview of how the Institute Research Centres (iCentres) at Masdar Institute are designed to drive the development of new technologies and build human capital for the direct benefit of the U.A.E. and the region.
