In an effort to maintain the safety of students taking school transport, Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, and Emirates Transport, ET, have published a first of its kind guidebook identifying the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders in the school transport process.
Commenting on the announcement, Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of School Operations at ADEC, said, "The importance of this handbook is to spread awareness among students and parents about the use of school transport, in order to ensure the safety of students during their journey to and from school.
He added that the objectives of ADEC are based on providing the highest security, and health and safety standards for all students during their school day, pointing out that the handbook is supportive of these goals and will contribute to the clarification of the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in the school transport process.
Abdullah bin Swaif Alghufli, Executive Director of School Transport Division at ET, said, "We are working together to develop mechanisms and programmes that ensure the safety of students and achieve common goals, primarily providing safe and comfortable transport for our students to achieve zero percent school transport accidents."
The booklet defines the responsibilities of each participant in the school transport operation, and the procedures to be followed at each stage of the school bus journey.
