The Agriculture Ministry said so far, the Principal Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit (PBDAC)'s barns and the Supply Ministry's silos and mills received nearly 2.89 million tons of wheat from farmers in all governorates.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry said the bank's grain storage barns in the governorate received 698,11 tons of wheat so far, while grain mills received 742,23 tons of wheat.
While the General Company for Silos and Storage (GSSC) and Al Masria for Silos received 776,187 and 675,554 tons of wheat respectively, the statement added.
The three-month wheat harvest began mid April.
Government expects that 4 million tons of wheat to be supplied by farmers by the end of the set time.
Egypt, the world's largest wheat importer, has banned the trading of imported wheat in the domestic market without permission from the supply ministry during this year's harvest season, from April to July.
