Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb said on Saturday that the Israeli ground invasion in Gaza Strip is considered "crimes against humanity" and must stop at once.
The Israeli ground assault against the Palestinians violates international conventions and laws and that killing children, demolishing homes and displacement of families are crimes against humanity, Sheikh Al-Azhar explained in a press statement.
He called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arab League, UN Security Council and all human rights organizations, particularly children's right organizations to move swiftly to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
