AL demands international community intervention to stop Yarmuk camp fighting

The Arab League (AL) has demanded the international community to intervene to stop fighting in the Yarmuk and other Palestinian camps in Syria.
The AL said in a statement it followed up closely the developments in Palestinian refugee camps in Syria since the outbreak of fighting there.
There are 500,000 Palestinian refugees in Syria, according to the AL statement.
Yarmuk camp refugees topped by children suffer from tight siege and dearth of medical aid, food and fuel provisions and price hike, according to the pan-Arab organization.
The camp was under siege since 22 July 2013 as 172 refugees were killed due to hunger and scarcity of food products and medical equipment.
As many as 2,648 Palestinian refugees were killed since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in 2011.
The Palestinian refugees are not party in the Syrian conflict, the Arab League statement read, noting that they are no more than guests of the Syrian people.
