The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League (AL) Hossam Zaki has highlighted the importance of the next Arab Summit slated for March 29 in Jordan because of the challenges witnessed by the region.
In a press conference held on Sunday, Zaki said that a delegation representing the AL general secretariat will pay a visit to Jordan next week to coordinate preparations for the summit with the Jordanian side.
A Jordanian delegation arrived at the general secretariat recently to probe the preparations, he noted.
The Jordanian side is fully committed to holding the summit, Zaki underlined, adding that Jordan invited the Arab leaders to participate in the event.
He further reiterated that there are discussions with the Jordanian side over the issues to be tackled as part of the summit's agenda.
Consultations took also place over the draft declaration which will include the stances of the Arab leaders concerning the challenges witnessed by the region in preparation for submitting it to the member countries, Zaki underscored.
He stressed the need that the summit result in issuing important decisions for the welfare of the Arab solidarity.
