
The UAE Parliamentary Division of the Federal National Council (FNC), headed by Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC, participated in the parliamentary coordination meetings of the Arab, Muslim and GCC states, held today on the sidelines of the 134th General Assembly and198th Governing Council meetings of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The meeting was aimed at coordinating the positions of the Arab, Muslim and GCC parliaments on various issues in the IPU's agenda. Dr. Al Qubaisi chaired the meeting and thanked the heads of delegations. She stressed the importance of a common position on issues in the agenda of the IPU's General Assembly and the Governing Council.
It reviewed the report presented by Ali Jassim, Head of the UAE Parliamentary Division, Representative of Arab Group in the Executive Committee of the IPU. The report focused on the Arab parliamentary issues. It also referred to the approval of the Executive Committee for the Egypt Parliament rejoining the IPU, becoming member state number 168. The report also talked about the expansion of the IPU membership and improving its website, as well as a number of activities.
The Arab parliaments' representatives appreciated the efforts of the Arab Group's representative in the IPU Executive Committee meetings. They also thanked the UAE Parliamentary Division for its role in this respect.
