
The Neda Party leader Al-Baji Gayed El-Sabsi has garnered highest proportion of the votes cast in the nationawide elections held on Sunday, according to unofficial and initial reports publicized on Monday.
This party took 37 percent of the ballots, thus enabling it to occupy 83 seats of the 217-member parliament.
Rached Ghannouchi's Al-Nahda party gained 26 percent of the votes, making it eliglble to occupy 61 parliamentary seats.
The left-wing Popular Front ranked third, according to the preliminary results, garnering some 5.4 percent of the ballots.
Final and official results are due to be declared later today.
