Algeria evacuates nationals from Libya

More than 5,000 Algerians have returned home from neighboring Libya due to the deteriorating security situation there, Spokesman of the Algerian Foreign Ministry Abdelaziz Benali Cherif said Saturday.
"The Ministry has instructed Algeria Embassy in Tunis and consulates in Tunisia's Gafsa and Kef to help the Algerian nationals wishing to return from Libya," Cherif told reporters here.
He added that Algeria has received thousands of Libyans and other country nationals who fled the armed conflict via Ras Ajdir border crossing, east Tunisia. In May Algeria pulled back its ambassador and all diplomatic staff from Tripoli, capital of Libya, as a result of the spiraling fighting.
