
Algeria will actively subscribe to the global campaign against drugs initiated by Interpol through awareness actions that will begin at the next social return, announced Wednesday in Algiers, Divisional Commissioner and Director of the Judicial Police (DPJ), Abdelkader Kara Bouhadba.
The campaign, to be held under the slogan "Turn Back Crime", aims to reduce the magnitude of the consumption, trafficking and sale of drugs worldwide and generated so far, the accession of 20 countries, Kara Bouhadba affirmed, during a meeting with the national press, devoted to the assessment of the activities of his department in terms of the fight against drugs.
In response to a question on Afripol continental mechanism, Kara Bouhadba stated that this mechanism, which stems from an initiative of Algeria, will be formally adopted at the 23rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), held from 26 to 28 June in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea).
As for a matter related to a "possible" cooperation with Morocco in the field of the fight against this scourge, the first head of the Judicial Police stated that "contacts" exist under the Interpol, like other countries.
"We have no choice except managing our neighborhood with this country by law, vigilance and repression if necessary, and with the help of the various services of security coming under the institutions working in the social and religious fields," he added.
