
Council of Ministers, met Tuesday in Algiers under the chairmanship of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, examined and adopted a bill on modernization of the justice system, aiming at improving and speeding up the procedures in favour of people subject to trial.
The text "is especially intended to codify electronic communication relating to judiciary actions," according to the Council of Ministers' statement.
The bill allows the use of videoconference in questioning and hearing during judicial inquiries.
President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on main occasions, and mainly through his electoral programme on the basis of which he has been elected, affirmed that the justice system "will benefit from additional means to strengthen its independence in enforcing the law, protection of human rights and basic freedoms."
The government committed to completing modernization of justice system, mainly by optimizing the yielding of the technologies used, the launch of new services, in addition to the increase of communication to facilitate citizens' access to the services provided by justice.
