
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) has met with Akila Saleh, President of Libya's House of Representatives, on the sidelines of her participation at the 23rd Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) in Cairo.
During the meeting, which was attended by members of the UAE Parliamentary Division, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Libya and ways to enhance them in the best interests of the two fraternal countries and peoples in various fields.
FNC Speaker confirmed that the UAE under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has strong relations with the Libya, adding that the ties reflect Arab cohesion and solidarity between the two countries.
Al Qubaisi emphasised the important role of the Libyan House of Representatives through exercising its constitutional and legislative powers in building a better future and aspirations of the Libyan people through effective work with various Libyan institutions, associations and other fraternal and friendly parliaments.
She also re-affirmed that the Federal National Council and the General Secretariat are ready to provide the necessary support and exchange of parliamentary and technical expertise with it in order to promote the parliamentary performance.
The FNC Speaker extended an official invitation to President of Libya's House of Representatives to visit the UAE and FNC to discuss bilateral relations between the two fraternal parliaments as well as to establish a parliamentary friendship committee between the two sides to develop constructive cooperation in various parliamentary events.
On his part, Saleh congratulated Al Qubaisi on taking up the post, stressing that this practice will strengthen Arab parliaments and will become a pioneering step to empower the Arab women.
