Arab FMs to meet on Arab peace initiative on August 5

An extraordinary meeting of the Arab League will be held on August 5 to follow up the Arab Peace Initiative, said Palestine's chief negotiator on Monday.
The meeting, to be held in Cairo at the level of foreign ministers, will tackle recent Israeli escalation in Al-Quds, said Saeb Erekat in press statements.
The Israeli steps included settlement plans, arrests, assassinations and incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Erekat made the remarks following a meeting with Arab League chief Nabil Arabi.
He met also in Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
The Arab Peace Initiative is a comprehensive peace initiative first proposed in 2002 at the Beirut Summit of the Arab League by then-Crown Prince and King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, and re-endorsed at the Riyadh Summit in 2007.
