
Arab League Secretary General Nabil El Araby strongly condemned continued airstrikes and random shelling of Syria's Douma area, leaving dozens of innocent civilians dead and wounded.
In a statement, Araby called for an immediate halt of the attack launched by the Syrian regime on a number of Syrian areas and districts.
Araby also voiced the AL's support for the UN Security Council statement Monday on Syria, considering the country facing one of the major humanitarian crises in the world.
The Arab League chief voiced hope that ongoing Arab and international efforts and contacts would result in achieving the hoped-for political solution, in accordance with Geneva 1 Statement.
He also renewed his support for the efforts exerted in this respect by UN special envoy Staffan de Mistura.
