
Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby held the international community, represented in the UNSC, responsible for dealing with the Syrian crisis in order to reach a joint action plan, which ensures attaining a political solution to the crisis according to the Geneva conference "1" statement.
Speaking at the opening session of the 97th round of the economic and social council at ministerial level, Araby underlined the need for putting an end to bloodshed in Syria, delivering aid to the besieged areas, resuming negotiations between representatives of the regime and opposition under the UN auspices and activating the UNSC's resolution 2254 regarding ending the conflict in Syria and releasing detainees and activating the statement issued in Munich on February 11.
Araby, meanwhile, warned of the dangerous situation in the crisis-hit Syria and deplored Russian air raids, which target hospitals and kill innocent people.
He also warned of continuing the Syrian crisis, a matter which will destabilize not only the region but the whole world.
He, meanwhile, underlined the need of rallying efforts between the organizations and agencies affiliated to the UN to alleviate the suffering of the refugees in Syria and the rest of Arab countries.
Talking about the Palestinian cause, Araby said that it is important to break the deadlock between Israelis and Palestinians.
He also underlined the need of exerting all efforts to putting an end to the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.
Araby also referred to the decision issued by the AL's ministerial council on November 9, 2015 on the repeated aggression and violation committed against the Palestinian nation and the necessary of taking all measures to stop Israeli settlement activity and provide protection to the Palestinian nation.
He also pointed out to the threats which are confronting the national security system.
Araby, meanwhile, pointed out to the daunting challenges besetting the region, adding that these challenges have greatly affected the economic and social development path of the various Arab countries.
