Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby has received an official invitation to attend the African Summit to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 14-15.
The invitation was handed to AL Deputy Secretary General Ahmed bin Helli during a meeting with AU ambassador to the pan-Arab body Abdel Hamid bu Zaher.
Bin Helli said Araby will attend the summit to review the AL stance on Arab and African issues.
The meeting with bu Zaher also took up the implementation of resolutions of the latest Afro-Arab summit that was held in Kuwait in November 2013, bin Helli said.
An initiative by the Kuwaiti emir to invest in a number of African countries was particularly tackled, he added.
Bin Helli and bu Zaher also discussed political coordination between the AL and AU and preparations for another joint summit in Equatorial Guinea in 2016.
He pointed to a meeting scheduled to take place soon between AL and AU ambassadors in the presence of Araby to exchange views about Afro-Arab cooperation issues.
