Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby and Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh discussed a number of Middle East issues, namely Palestinian cause and peace efforts, including preparations to League's ministerial meeting next month.
The two sides stressed on the need to resume peace negotiations to bring about an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, the Jordanian foreign ministry said in a statement.
They also tackled the latest Israeli aggression on Gaza and voiced support to the Egypt-brokered cease fire.
Judeh told a press conference that he discussed with the chief of the pan-Arab organization the continued Israeli violations against Muslim and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem and Jordan's efforts to stop such violations.
Arab League chief added decisions in the upcoming ministerial League meeting must be practical and realistic and not like previous routine decisions made in past meetings.
Al-Araby said his visit to the Kingdom comes within coordination and consultation on various pan-Arab issues as some Arab countries are being hit by unrest and turmoil and this requires closer Arab solidarity.
After the meeting, Al-Araby said that the Arab world is going through various tense situations, including in the upcoming periods.
