Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby warned of the gravity of the escalatory steps by the Houthi militants in Yemen, which he said, would lead to the collapse of the political process in the country.
In a press release Sunday, he said such steps would also deepen division and increase acts of violence and, the same time, threaten the stability and unity of the country as well as regional and international peace.
He also called for respecting the legitimacy , pointing out that the Houthis' decision to declare a constitutional declaration represented a coup against the constitutional legitimacy.
The Arab League chief called on all parties to respond positively to the initiative of the UN envoy Jamal bin Omar, saying he will continue contacts with all parties concerned to prepare for an emergency meeting by the Arab League Council to study the developments of the situation.
