Arab League Secretary General Nabil el Araby welcomed an initiative by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to cement ties and open turn a new page between Cairo and Doha.
The initiative comes in line with the Arab League Charter, which calls in its second article, to foster ties among Arab countries and attain cooperation between them, he added.
Araby further hoped that the initiative would be implemented and the good ties between Cairo and Doha would be restored.
Relations between Cairo and Doha deteriorated since July of last year, when former president Mohamed Morsi was ousted following massive protests.
Egypt had accused Qatar of interfering in its affairs by supporting the Muslim Brotherhood – the group from which Morsi hails – and by hosting a number of wanted Brotherhood figures following Morsi's ouster.
