Meetings of the 139th session of the Arab League Council opened in Cairo today with the participation of a Jordanian delegation led by the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Cairo and its permanent representatives to the Arab League Bishr Khasawneh. The ambassadors are meeting ahead of a ministerial session on Wednesday which will tackle a host of political, economic and social issues and the Palestinian cause. Today’s meeting will tackle issues pertaining to joint Arab action, the 2002 Arab peace initiative, Jewish settlements, Palestinian refugees and a deficit-stricken UNRWA, the UN Relief and Works Agency that helps the refugees. The council will also discuss the situation in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia and the occupied UAE’s islands.
