The Arab League (AL) will launch a second phase of development projects in Darfur, the pan-Arab body's envoy to Sudan said Tuesday.
Salah Halima said the launch of the projects would come during the current visit of an AL delegation led by the secretary general's envoy for humanitarian and relief affairs, Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani.
The AL undertook three major projects the first pertaining to reconstruction of villages, and health services in order to encourage internally displaced people and refugees to return to their homes in Darfur and South Kordofan.
The second and the third are represented in creating job opportunities and improving conditions of women and children, Halima said.
The AL crafted these projects via coordination with Sudanese authorities and after making field visits to Darfur to identify priorities of this region.
