The extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council started on Thursday at the permanent delegates' level to review the appointment of an envoy to Libya.
Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit and his deputy Ahmed ben Helli attended the meeting under Tunisian Ambassador to Egypt Najib Munifi.
Addressing the opening session, Tunisia's representative to the AL Munifi said the meeting will tackle appointing an AL envoy to Libya to follow up the developments there and hold necessary contacts with the Libyan parliament and other sides concerned with the Libyan crisis.
The envoy is expected to be named during the meeting.
The meeting will also discuss preparations for the fourth African summit due to be held in Equatorial Guinea on November 17 through 23.
Munifi said the meeting will also follow up the implementation of the decisions taken during the AL ministerial meeting held on September 6.
