
The Arab League peace initiative committee met here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah
The meeting, which came ahead of the Arab Foreign Ministers' gathering, focused on backing up the Palestinian cause especially after failure to pass a resolution at the UNSC to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands.
The meeting was attended by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who delivered a briefing on the Palestinian regional and international efforts to gain recognition for an independent state.
The Arab Peace Initiative Committee consists of Kuwait, Egypt, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, the UAE, Oman, and the Arab League Secretariat.
