The Arab Foreign Ministers Council on Friday welcomed efforts exhorted by the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) to hold negotiations between the Syrian opposition and regime under the United Nations auspices.
In a resolution passed today, the council said the UN Security Council shoulders the responsibility of addressing the Syrian crisis.
The council also urged the AL secretary-general to hold talks with the UN chief and his envoy to Syria and other concerned parties to follow up the Syrian crisis and ways to reach a political solution for it.
The ministers also welcomed the outcome of the Syrian opposition's meeting held in December, 2015, in Saudi Arabia as well as the opposition's meetings in Cairo and Moscow
